Wax Batik Mom and Boy Reading a Book
About:
Water color paint, layers of melted wax on rice paper mounted on a canvas
Water Color Wax Batik:
Melted wax is used as a resist. These paintings are created with multiple layers of melted wax and water color paint on rice paper. Everytime you want another color, or a different shade of an existing color, another layer of wax is put on prior to painting. When the painting is finished, all the wax is removed by ironing and the painting is mounted on a canvas. This is a tedious process, but the results are so unique.
